Zelen's Z Firm Face and Neck Lifting Cream...

Today I have to share with you the follow up to my previous Zelen's skincare review. The Z Firm Lifting Face and Neck cream is a product I have been thoroughly testing over the past few months. I've made it a vital step in my skincare routine and have actually surprised myself to sticking to it. Retailing for a whopping £115 for a 50ml jar from the Beauty Expert website I certainly had high hopes for this product.
The same expertise and development by Dr Marko Lens has gone in to this product as the radiance cleanser that I reviewed a few weeks back, using the latest research in to the genetics of skin again Zelens have created a product that intensively lifts and gives an immediate tightening effect.
A potent complex of ingredients is used to strengthen the collagen naturally found in the skin to increase firmness over time, it promises to leave facial and neck contours appearing visibly improved and youthfully refined. It is also free from nasties such as mineral oils and parabens, and can also be used on all skin types.
Now I know what you are probably thinking 'well Bec, you have such youthful radiant skin, you don't need firming and lifting yet', first off, thank you and secondly I like to think that prevention is better than cure, especially with a product like this and that is why I have been sticking to this Zelens skincare routine since receiving the products from Beauty Expert.
The packaging of the Z Firm cream is as with the whole Zelens range very stylish, simple and would look great on anyone's make up desk. The white outer packaging tells you what you need to know and boasts the Zelens logo. The jar that the cream comes in does certainly give it a luxury feel, the frosted glass with chrome lid fits the product well and does represent that it is a high end product.
The cream itself is a wonderful texture, it's just the right consistency meaning that it absorbs into the skin like a dream, it is just thick enough to not be like a normal lotion consistency but it is nowhere near as thick as a butter. It applies smoothly, has a lovely rich feel to it and you can instantly feel it doing good for your skin. I truly think it is just a perfect thickness for application both morning and night, and I can easily apply this right before my make up and it has no effect on the lasting power of foundation or anything like that.
The main active ingredients that Zelens use to create such a potent recipe that fights against ageing skin are things are as camellia oil, their own botanical blend, silanols and proteins from sesame and Arganian spinosa which all sound very complicated but they certainly work in harmony to create a wonderful lifting cream. If you'd like to read more about all of the ingredients and what they do for the skin then you can do so on the Zelens website here, it breaks it all down and give some really good information.
I have found the Zelens Z Firm Face and Neck Lifting cream to really work for me, despite still being young I have noticed a difference in my skin over the past three months of using it. I find that my skin looks healthier, more hydrated and certainly plumper around the cheeks and it has more of a bounce to it. I have also found that I haven't had any hormonal spots that I normally suffer from and my face feels a lot smoother as I do get tiny little pimple like spots normally across my forehead. I really do believe that this is down the the Z Firm and Radiance cleanser as nothing else in my lifestyle or daily routine has changed. I think not only am I seeing results now using the products, that in a few years time when my skin starts getting older that I will see a big difference then, and I certainly believe that getting in to these products young has set me up well for when that time comes.
I know it is an expensive product, but you really don't need a lot as the formula spreads beautifully over the skin meaning you don't need to smother yourself in it to feel the slightest effect. I have been using it morning and night as suggested and am about half way through the jar after using it for three months, so I believe it does work out value for money that way as I could easily be spending up to £20 a time trying to find a product that I like, and then not liking any of them and wasting that money, at least now I know that the Z Firm works for me I won't need to be spending unessecary money trying to find the one and can put that up towards the cost of the Z Firm when I need to replace it.
You can pick up the whole Zelens range from the Beauty Expert website where they offer free delivery worldwide, you can purchase the Z Firm here and if you'd like to read more about the Radiance cleanser then you can do so here and purchase that also from the Beauty Expert website here
I'd love to hear whether your skincare is one for now or are you also thinking to the future with anti-ageing creams like me now? Let me know.

Guest Post: Innovative Make Up Tips for 2013...

Innovative Makeup Tips For 2013: How To Look Effortlessly Beautiful Every Day

Everyone wants to look and feel beautiful, but most women just simply don't have a ton of extra time to invest in themselves. Other things- like jobs, school, children, or significant others- are vying for their attention. There is no reason to sacrifice your own well being or beauty routine, however. Today we are here to offer you makeup tips. Yet these aren't just any makeup tips. These tips will allow you to look effortlessly beautiful every day, and with investing only the most minimal amount of time.

Creating A Natural-Looking Flush, or Adding A Pink Warmth To Your Complexion

A light, natural-looking flush is said to be the tell-tale sign of youth. If you want to score a youthful blush on your own, well, use blush! No, really. Just use a medium-sized makeup brush and dust a bright pink blush lightly on your face using circular motions. This will help to distribute the blush evenly all over your face for an evenly flushed appearance. Remember to only use the most minimal amount of blush. This makeup tip only takes about fifteen to thirty seconds!

When It Comes To Bronze, Think Yellow Not Orange!

If you have light to medium skin, you are better off choosing a bronzer with yellow undertones instead of orange ones. Orange ones will have your so-called glow looking fake, while the yellow ones will make your newly found tan complexion much more natural.

Remember To Pair Bold Lips With Neutral Eyes!

If you are one of those lovely ladies who just adore bright red lipstick, you need to remember to pair your bold lips with a neutral eye. What does that mean? Basically, if you don't want to look like you've overdone your look, keep your eyeshadow to browns, grays, tans, and other neutral colors when you're lips are bold, bright, and sexy in red.

A Fresh Face Is Always In Style

Going out with a 'fresh faced' look doesn't necessarily mean no makeup whatsoever. If you only have- literally- five minutes to spare before you need to run out of the house, try an all natural look with just the barest of touch ups. You can pull off a gorgeous fresh faced look by simply dabbing a touch of lip gloss to your lips (just a touch! Don't overdo it ladies!), the tinniest bit of mascara to your lashes, and just a small swipe or two of blush to your cheeks. Viola! Gorgeous, fresh faced, and no will even know you're wearing any makeup at all. This look takes about two to three minutes to put together, and it is well worth the effort.

A Little Eyeliner Experimentation Can Go A Long Way

Most women want to accentuate their eyes more than anything else on their face. Beautiful eyes framed just right can make everyone you come into contact with go gaga over your look. A typical light outline is always a good bet, but if you want to be a bit unique, try a slight smudge. It sounds crazy, right? Don't we want to keep our makeup from smudging? Well, yes, of course, but if it's supposed to be smudged ladies, it's okay! Put your eyeliner on as usual and take a sponge to lightly smudge it just below your eyes. Total time for this trick? Perhaps two to three minutes.

Let Your Brows Be Bold!

There is no longer a reason to pluck your eyelashes into a pencil thin line. Bold eyebrows are totally in season this year. A great tip is to lightly brush your eyebrows downwards, and fill in sparse spots with an eyebrow pencil that closest matches your natural color. Brush the brows back into place and you are ready to go! This would be a neat tip to pair with the fresh faced look for a slightly edgier take on things. This one is yet another two to three minute quick fix to your beauty regiment.

MUA Cosmetics Undress Me Too Palette Review, Swatches and EOTD...

So we are just into the third month of 2013 and MUA Cosmetics have already released an impressive array of products to their beauty arsenal, last month saw the launch of a whole new line in the professional range, the Undress Your Skin collection along with a brand new palette, the follow up to the ever so popular Undressed palette which was released last year.

Now the first thing that I and no doubt you have noticed with this palette is a change in the colour, the white plastic casing makes a refreshing change to the normal black that MUA use for their professional range of palettes, it also makes it easier to pick out when mixed in with my other MUA palettes. Apart from the colour change the layout and look of the palette is the same as the others. Another pleasing feature that I noticed is that all of the shades in the Undress Me Too palette have names, there is a little diagram on the back planning them out and naming them. This is a handy although not vital addition, it does make it easier when trying to explain how a look was created, so kudos to MUA.
Another major plus is that the price hasn't changed either, so it still retails for just £4 for 12 beautiful shadows.
Included in the Undress Me Too is twelve shades of well pigmented shadows, they range from matte, to shimmer and some even come across metallic. There is the option to create a look for everyone, whether it be for day or night, and the addition of the darker sultry colours means that it can instantly transform that day look to a sexy night one.
Along the top row of shadows is the shades are more neutral, including soft browns and creams to create an everyday look. All are well pigmented, soft and blend like a dream, and as with most other MUA palettes there isn't much fall out. The matte shades are perfect for creating a base, I find myself using Naked all over the eye to give an even base before creating any look. I also use the MUA Professional Eye Primer and it enhances the colours more and easily lasts all day.
The matte shades are also great for using as eye liner, along the lash line Lavish makes a great alternative to black gel or liquid eye liners as it's less harsh and in your face for say a trip down to the supermarket.
The second row of colours in the Undress Me Too palette is where the deeper more sultry shades come in, although saying that Exposed is a gorgeous gunmetal silver that I find myself using most days blended through my crease with Wink. I love the fact that MUA have included a simple black matte shadow in the form of Corrupt, this has again been a day to day wear for me, it makes the perfect upper lash liner, just slightly winged out at the end it really gives definition and depth the whole look and of course enhances the lashes which is always a good thing.
I think Reveal is such a pretty addition to the palette too, it's perfect for highlighting the inner corner of the eye and the brow bone.
I thought as well as reviewing and swatching the palette that I would share with you the look that I have been wearing most days thanks to the MUA Undress Me Too palette.
As previously mentioned I use the MUA Professional Eye Primer all over the lid to help even out my eye pigmentation and also give a smooth base and the best chance of it looking as good at 7pm as it did at 7am, and they eye primer does all of those things, easily.
First off I use a large flat brush loaded with the colour Naked, I apply this all over the lid first and then with the remaining bit on the brush I take it up to the brow bone.
Next up I take a smaller flat brush and apply Reveal to the inner half of my crease and the gorgeous deeper brown shade Obsessed to the outer half in a V like shape. I then blended it all together with a fluffy brush and with an angled brush applied Corrupt to my lash line very finely and extended it just past the edge of my lashes.
I really love this look and it has seen me through most of the week, I mixed it up a little on Wednesday by using a deep brown and gold from the palette but I shall share that look with you in a face of the day post next week. But here is the finished look using Naked, Reveal, Obsessed and Corrupt as detailed above.
Overall I really cannot recommend this palette enough, at £4 it is another must have from the MUA Professional range and I think this coupled with the original Undressed palette will certainly satisfy every single neutral need and millions of looks can be created.
You can pick it up now from the MUA Cosmetics online store, or from your local Superdrug for just £4.
Don't forget to become a follower of my blog if you aren't already as I have a few more goodies from the new MUA ranges to share with you over the next week or so.
Have you tried this or any of the other MUA Professional palettes? If so, which is your favourite? I'd love to hear what you think.

Dancing On Ice Style: Matt's Cheeky Quiff with Schwarzkopf...l

If there is one thing that I love about Dancing On Ice it's scoping out the best hairstyles and make up looks each week. Something in my nature instantly draws me to them, the over the top make up and lavish hairstyles always keep me entertained, even if the skating is a disaster.
This past week or so I have been having a play with a range of Schwarzkopf products supplied by the fabulous Immediate PR to try and recreate the look that the rather gorgeous Matt Lapinskas (aka Anthony Moon from Eastenders) was sporting on the week six show, a cheeky quiff. Yes I know you are all thinking well Matt, that must be a men's hairstyle? Well yes it is, but since having shorted hair I thought it would be perfect to adapt it to make it wearable by all sexes, show the men just how it is done.
The three Schwarzkopf products that have helped me out with this look are amazing, two by Osis which are the Osis Grip and the Flexwax, the other is part of the [3D]Mension range by Schwarzkopf and is the strong hold hairspray.
To get the style I started off by shampooing and conditioning my hair as normal, followed by lightly towel drying it, I then took the Osis Grip mousse and dispensed a tangerine sized amount into the palm of my hand, I then worked it through the roots of my hair, concentrating on the top section as that is where I wanted most of the volume and hold to be to create the quiff shape.
I then took the hair dryer and smoothed down the sides of my hair to give it that sleek look mixed up with the messy quiff, after doing that I applied the heat from the hair dryer directly to my roots and pointed it upwards so that I could make sure that it was really going to hold in all of that volume that the Osis Grip had given me. To finish off the side I simply used a couple of hair grips to create that illusion of Matt's short shaved sides.
Now came the fun part, using the Flexwax to pack in loads of texture and really give it some serious strong hold. This product took me by surprise, the consistency is one that I have never really used or seen before, it's like a wax cream hybrid that give you the versatility of a wax and the hold that you' expect from it, but with a cream twist meaning that it was easy to pull around the hair to get the exact style and shape that you want and it also gives it a nice finish. Also as with all Osis products it smells gorgeous. To work in the Flexwax I took a small about in the palm of my hand and warmed it up by rubbing it between my hands, then I set to work on creating the quiff. Firstly I just put the Flexwax through the whole of the top section of my hair to give it the structure and hold I needed to pull off such a high look on my fine hair, then I started to work on individual pieces, pulling and pushing them into the cheeky messy quiff that Matt sports. I just needed to tuck away the stray ends from my longer hair at back of the quiff so simply secured them with some hair grips.
Then to finish it off and lock the style into place ready for a night on the ice I used the [3D]Mension strong hold hairspray to make sure it stayed where I wanted it. This product is amazing, lets just get that out there. It has a very useful cone type shape around the spray hole which I found to disperse the product in a fantastic way, it gave a good even covering to the hair and it also means that you can get up close and personal with the pieces that need a little more attention than others. This is by far the best hairspray that I have ever used, and trust me I have tried a lot. It does have quite a manly smell to it which is to be expected as it is part of the Schwarzkopf men's range, I combated that simply with another spritz of perfume.
Overall this is a look I love, on both men and women, it's versatile, will easily transform you from day to night in seconds. I am a fan of the quiff anyway, it's the simplest way for me to do something different with my hair since I have had it all cut off again, the Osis and [3D]Mension products just make it so much more easy, fun and long lasting than any other styling products I have used before to create this kind of look. I think this look can also be rocked on longer hair, a simple sleek ponytail will hide away the length and the the bit messy quiff will give you that something extra, a la Matt's cheeky quiff and if you fancy giving any of these products a go, which I highly recommend then you can find you nearest Schwarzkopf stocked salon using the locator here
So what do you think? Do you think us girls can do it just as good as the boys?

Zelens Radiance Luminous Facial Cleanser Review...

Back in January I was thrilled to be given the chance to try out some Zelens skincare by the lovely Beka who works on behalf of Beauty Expert
Zelens was a range that I hadn't heard of before, mainly because my worst kept beauty habit is skincare, I was always a wipe and go kind of person, the past tense in that statement may give you a little clue to how these products have changed that in the space of the last six weeks or so. When I started to look into the brand a little more I wasn't surprised that I was so pleased with the results, Zelens is a brand that has been created by Dr Marko Lens who is a plastic and re-constructive surgeon, his expertise lie in the field of skin cancer and ageing of the skin, meaning that he has the most in depth knowledge into the way the skin works and what it needs to be kept looking its best and how to repair those problem areas.
The two Zelens products that I have been testing over the past few weeks are the Radiance Luminous Facial Cleanser and the Z Firm Lifting Face & Neck Cream. This post will be all about the cleanser, then one shall follow later in the week all about the face & neck cream.

The Zelens Radiance Luminous Cleanser*, for the £40 price tag you get 125ml of product available here from the Beauty Expert website. It is housed inside a plastic bottle with a pump lid, it still maintains it's high end looks whilst being practically packaged in a plastic bottle as I keep this in the bathroom I'd hate to have to be using a glass bottle with wet hands.
The cleanser promises to be luxuriously cleansing whilst hydrating the skin with camellia oil, the pearl extracts that are packed inside are which adds the radiance and brightening properties to the cleanser. Suitable for all skin types it removes impurities along with make up to leave the skin feeling soft, clean, smooth and radiant.
I use the cleanser as directed, morning and night. It the morning it is on naked fresh skin and in the evening I use it to remove the days make up. Both times the results are the same, it removes make up with ease, even mascara, it is gentle on the eyes too and hardly any effort is needed to remove even the most dramatic of make up look. To use it I simply wet my face with warm water, pump four pumps worth of product into the palm of my hand, emulsify it between my two hands and then set to work on my face in small circular motions. It glides over the skin with ease, and does lightly foam, although that's not important I think it gives us that image that it is cleansing the skin. I then simply wash away the cleanser with warm water and gently pat my face dry.
I have significantly noticed a change in the way my skin looks and behaves. I normally suffer from hormonal spots but in the past six weeks  I've had none, my skin feels softer and smoother too as well as brighter and like I have had a lot of sleep even if I haven't.
The camellia seed oil that Zelens have packed in this cleanser is also known as the 'beauty oil' due to the age defying features it has, Japan cottoned on to such properties centuries ago and it's how they keep their skin so smooth and soft. High in Omega 3 and essential fatty acids it is bound to give the skin a healthy glow without clogging the pores as it is absorbed into the skin hydrating it by replenishing lost lipids. Coupled with the natural soothing and repairing effects of aloe vera and the brightening of the pearl extracts the vitamin e fights even more against ageing skin, so no wonder the Zelens Radiance Luminous Cleanser does exactly what it says.
Overall I really think that it's worth the £40 price tag, which actually surprises me to say as I do tend to stick to high street brands. I think it's worth investing in a good skincare routine when young to get the most out of anti-ageing properties packed into such products as the Zelens Radiance Luminous Cleanser, as they say, prevention is better than cure.
In the six weeks that I have been using this I have noticed that my skin appears brighter, dark spots and hyper-pigmentation are reduced and overall I just have a healthy glow about me. Often I can get away with just a little concealer, blush and mascara now that I have my skincare spot on. I think that six weeks is quite a short period of time to base a review of a skincare product on as there is a lot of changes that can happen with skin over the season changes, but to be testing this in winter when the cold zaps all of the moisture out of the skin and colds hit I think it is easy to say I have give this cleanser a fair run for it's money, and it certainly hasn't disapointed.
You can pick up the Radiance cleanser and the rest of the Zelens range from the Beauty Expert website where it is priced £40 for the 125ml bottle and comes delivered to your door for free, which is always a bonus.
I'd love to hear if you have tried anything from the Zelens range and have been converted just like me. Don't forget to check back later in the week for the full review on the Z Firm Lifting Face & Neck Cream.

NOTD: China Glaze Escaping Reality...

If you are anything like me then you will be totally fed up of the cold, wet weather and will be well and truly feeling the full on effect of the winter blues. Yes it's nice when it snows, crisp days are a favourite of mine but at heart I am a summer girl, flip flops, sunglasses and minimal make up is the one for me. Now unfortunately I don't have a time machine to transport me to summer, or access to a tropical island, so the easiest way I find to cheer myself up and cocoon myself in a bubble of faux summer is to wear a bright coloured nail varnish. I think it's so easy to get away with and the bright flash of colour you see when working the way through your day can certainly be a boost and real contrast to the grey rain clouds outside.
Today I have to share with you a new, but already favourite shade of mine from China Glaze. Escaping Reality* is a very bright neon pink shade which is part of the Cirque du Soleil collection, perfect for brightening up any weather. The shade I think is quite unique to any other that I have in my nail varnish collection, the true neon pink shines through in the sunlight and a more subdued hot pink is visible in the shade. When the neon tones are at their brightest it still isn't obnoxiously in your face making Escaping Reality a real versatile shade from the China Glaze range.
I've found that it can easy dress up, or dress down an outfit, perfect for work, rest and play. You can see that China Glaze have taken real inspiration from the vivid colours found throughout the Cirque du Soleil scene to come up with such a great colour.
This is my first try of a China Glaze polish and I must say that I am impressed with the formula, it isn't too thick or runny making it a dream to apply. I also find that it dries rather quickly too, which is a great plus for me as I tend to be that person that fancies painting their nails just before doing something, or going to sleep.
The packaging of the China Glaze polishes are a classic clear bottle with a black lid, meaning they will look great in anybodies collection.
The brush works great for me too, it takes around three strokes to cover the whole nail, there isn't a super strong smell either. I also noticed that despite the colour being so bright it didn't stain the nails at all, that was after being on for five days with no base or top coat applied.
Escaping Reality dries to a semi matte finish, which personally I love as I'm not a fan of the feel of totally matte nails.  I find that two coats is best to achieve a perfect opaque finish and that lasts around four days with any noticeable signs of wear and tear. That is another great bonus for me too, as I am not light on my hands, they are either submersed in hair dyes, water and scrubbing away at something.
If the semi matte finish doesn't appeal to you or you fancy a change then you can of course use your favourite top coat to achieve that super glossy finish. I also think that a glitter top coat would look fab too for that added sparkle all over, or even just as an accent nail.

You get a lot of product too, 14ml for the £6.95 price tag from Beautybay including free delivery worldwie. The high quality look, feel and finish of the nail varnish certainly makes it worth it.
Overall I really love everything about this polish, the application, the finish, the colour and I shall certainly be trying some more of the China Glaze range. You can check out a whole load of China Glaze polishes on the Beautybay website here.
I'd love to hear if you have tried any of the colours from China Glaze and which is your favourite. Also, are you a fan of brightening up the day with a vivid nail polish? Let me know.

What Make Up Brushes I Use...

So last night saw me do the laborious weekly task of deep cleaning my make up brushes, I left them to dry over night on the dining table and they were sat there sparkling at me this morning, so I thought that I would share with you what brushes I use.
Now I seem to have built up a rather large collection of brushes, most aren't any good as they have come out of those giant sets you get for Christmas as a teenager so most of those have been thrown or put away only to be seen again in an absolute emergency, this means I have been left with a nice selection of brushes I use on a daily basis.
To start off with I thought I would show you how I keep them on my dressing table, I simply use this square vase that had been knocking around the house for various uses prior to me permanently nabbing it to house my beloved brushes, the red gravel is just that, decorative gravel and I picked up a big tub of it in Home and Bargains for less than a pound a few years ago. The latest addition to my make up putting on routine is the Beautyblender, and I won this just before Christmas when the team was doing some flash holiday competitions, also with the Beautyblender came the solid Beautycleanser and that is what I have been using to clean my brushes the past couple of weeks. I keep the Beautyblender sponge with the cleanser in the jute type bag that it came in, simply because I don't want it to lose its shape and I'm not sure yet where else to keep it.
First up is face brushes, so I shall tell you the brand and what brush they are, then include what I personally use them for.
So from the top left going down I have:
AOFM Pro small fan brush- highlighting
AOFM Pro blush brush- powdering smaller areas
AOFM Pro angled blush brush- contouring
Beautyblender- foundation and concealer
Japonesque travel powder brush- powder
Japonesque Safari Chic blush brush- powder blush
Then it's onto some of my eye make up brushes, along with a couple of miscellaneous items thrown in.
AOFM Pro large shadow brush- base eyeshadow
AOFM Pro blending brush- blending
AOFM Pro small rounded brush- placing eyeshadow in the crease
Body Collection shading brush- placing eyeshadow on the lid
Primark eyelash curlers
Japonesque travel retractable lip brush- applying bright lipsticks
And finally is the rest of my eye brushes along with the tools I use to keep my brows where I want them to be.
Ruby & Millie mascara brush- spoolie for brows
AOFM Pro angled brush- applying brow powder
Japonesque flat liner brush- applying concealer along the edges of  brows
Japonesque travel linder brush- gel liner
Japonesque Safari Chic large eyeshadow brush- all over lid colours
Japonesque Safari Chic small eyeshadow brush- highlighting the brow bone

And those are the make up brushes and tools that I use on a day to day basis, obviously not all of the eye brushes as I don't wear eyeshadow or liner everyday, but on the days that I do, these brushes cover my every need.
If you want to see any of the brushes reviewed or in action then please let me know. There are a lot of the Japonesque brushes already reviewed here along with links of where you can buy them from.
The AOFM Pro range in available from their website but only in the full tool kit. I do like those brushes, but I do tend to find that the face ones especially do shed, which is unfortunate as other than that they do work really well for me.
On another note, I really cannot recommend the Beautyblender enough, it has immensely changed my foundation application and overall finish, I simply fail at using foundation brushes, whether it be a standard flat brush, angled or even the buffing type brushes which are becoming more popular, I just can't get the hang of them. But the Beautyblender, oh my, it works perfectly, it leaves me with a flawless finish in minutes, I don't even need to go over with my fingers afterwards to work any product into tighter areas, I really urge you to try it.
If you want to see a full review on that and see the finish it leaves then please let me know and I shall happily share all of my thoughts about it with you, as you can tell I can ramble on about it for a while!
I'd also love to see what brushes you use, so please if you have or plan on doing a post like this then leave the link in the comments below.
