Today is the day, you can finally get yourself down to Superdrug and get your hands on the fabulous MUA Cosmetics and Alexandra Burke Lip Booms. Obviously depending on how fast your local MUA Professional stocked Superdrug is with getting stock out, you will be able to get your hands on all eight shades priced at just £3 each, if they aren't on the shelf, grab a member of staff and get them to check, stamp your feet and say you aren't leaving until you get them! That is totally my plan anyway.
So to celebrate the release of the Lip Booms I thought that I would do a 'Cheeky' blog post showing you the final shade of the three that I was lucky enough to receive from MUA.
Cheeky is a bubblegum candy pink shade. Again it is a double ended product with a matte lipstick at one end and a highlighting gloss at the other, meaning you can create four stunning looks to complement the look you are going for.
The packaging as with all of the Lip Booms is great, it's sleek and easily usable as well as looking a lot more expensive than the £3 that it retails for.
Alexandra herself has picked the names and the shades to reflect the colours she likes to wear and thinks will suit a whole variety of skin tones, and the names of the shades are popular sayings and phrases she is often heard using.
The lipstick of the Lip Boom duo is great, it has a lovely soft texture and despite it's matte finish doesn't pull the lips or stick on any dry patches on the lips. The colour is delicate yet bright bubblegum pink, but still looks quite pale on my lips. I think that is because there isn't that much pigmentation in my lips so it has to work hard to give them some colour, but the swatches above give a truer representation of the colours.
This is the first of the four ways to use the Lip Boom product, just the lipstick alone to give a great sweep of matte colour.
The second way to wear the Lip Boom is to use the soft pink highlighting gloss just in the centre on the lips and on the cupids bow. The large chunks of glitter that fill the gloss then reflect the light and this gives the lips a fuller look as well as creating a gorgeous effect with just the right amount of gloss to offset the matte lipstick.
The third look is a full on glossy lip over the top of the matte lipstick to give a great glossy finish. The gloss is a little thick so as mentioned in my other Lip Boom posts I just dot this gloss on the lips and then rub my lips together to distribute the product. I love this look, it's so simple and easy to wear. Instantly brightens up a neutral make up look.
The last look is just the highlighting gloss on it's own. Despite it's pink appearance in the tube it is a pretty clear gloss with large silver chunks of glitter in when on the lips. The chunks of glitter being on the larger size means that you can feel them a bit of the lips, but this isn't an uncomfortable experience. I love just popping this gloss on alone for a simple glossy look.
The sweet vanilla scent is a plus for me too, although some may find it a little sickly, the good news is that it doesn't stay around for too long.
Overall I cannot recommend these MUA and Alexandra Burke Lip Booms enough. I shall certainly be picking up some more of the colours. As previously there are eight shades to chose from, from the pinks like this one to the deep dark shades of Let Me Know.
You can pick these up now from the MUA Cosmetics webstore, and from MUA Professional stocked Superdrug stores, of which you can find a list here, and they are just £3. Also a little birdie tells me that all make up in Superdrug is on a 3 for 2 offer at the moment, so there is an excuse to run down there and pick these up, that's if you need an excuse!
Let me know which you have managed to pick up, or which you have you eye on.
Thanks for reading.
